Mary Poppins Returns"Mary Popping What? Production : Walt Disney Pictures, Lucamar Productions, Marc
Platt Productions |
Tells
the story of Mary Poppins who returns after a decades to help the
Banks siblings and Michaels children with their lives after the
lost of their mother. Directed by Oscar winner Rob Marshall, the
film surely gives everybody a high hopes especially its Mary
Poppins were all talking about here. The film is based on the book
series Marry Poppins by P.L. Travers and the film is a sequel to the
film Mary Poppins 1964 film. The story set in 1930s London and it is
about 25 years after the first film. The 1964 Mary Poppins were
played by Julie Andrewa and this 2018 is played Emily Blunt. While
Lin-Manuel Miranda played a Mary Poppins friend or in the original
film is Bert. The film is also a musical just like the one in 1964. But, dont expect yourself to find a wonderful film like the 2017s hit The Greatest Show Man. Instead the film lack of story telling. From the beginning the audiences already filled with a long opening the names of the cast and crew. The main story of the film is nice and family like but the way it is told is not. There are many absurds scenes and dont get it wrong absurds is nice as long it is there to make the story stronger and not weaken it. Which what happened with Mary Poppins Returns where the absurds weaken the story. Most of the musical scenes are unbearable to watch even Meryl Streep couldnt save it. Emily Blunt is basically the only thing that keeps the audience on their sit. She nailed the performance. The last 10 minute of the film is magical. If only they could let the whole film as magical as the last moments. They should have fasten up the story, deepen the character so the audience could feel the film and make the film a magical and unforgettable film. According to Marshall, the sequel is on development. But well, do we have to wait for another 54 years to watch it? Ill pass. (Anna Rose) Point: 65 |
